New Zealand’s bank notes are made of polymer, and once they become too worn to use, they are taken out of circulation and shredded. As part of an advertising campaign for the Bank of New Zealand, these shredded bills are made into the shape of stacked notes worth one thousand dollars. These packs are sent to existing BNZ customers to inform them of how they can quickly reduce their home loan. The currency straps are designed with a slightly raw and imperfect appearance to create a sense of authenticity. The subtle fade of colour is achieved by tampering with the inking processing on a letterpress. Each strap is then marked with a custom stamp and individually signed by hand.
